Description of Clinical Program
UCLA established the first Adult Congenital Heart Disease Center in the U.S. specifically to treat the adolescent, post-adolescent and adult with congenital heart disease. It remains the only facility of its kind in California. The patient population is diverse, including adults who have never undergone cardiac surgery, those who require further reparative surgery, and those who are inoperable apart from cardiac transplantation.

The specialized medical and pediatric team treats an array of problems associated with adult congenital abnormalities, including non-cardiac surgery, medical illnesses and pregnancy.

The Center is a national and international referral center, maintaining an active congenital heart disease registry.
